Aged Dependent Relative Subclass 114
This permanent visa is for elderly relatives of settled Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens residing in Australia. To qualify, the aged relative must meet the pension age criteria, equivalent to the pension age in Australia.
The term “relative” encompasses a wide range of family connections, including partners, children, parents, siblings, step-relatives, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, or step-equivalents.
Applicants can only apply for this visa from outside Australia and must remain outside the country during both the application and visa grant.
The pension age in Australia varies annually. Presently, it stands at 66 years and 6 months until 30th June 2023. Afterward, it will increase to 67 years. For more detailed information and updates regarding the pension age, please refer to www.dss.gov.au.

This visa requires sponsorship by an eligible Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen child, endorsed by the Department of Home Affairs. To pass the balance of family test, over 50% of the applicant’s children must be settled as citizens or permanent residents in Australia.
The applicant should have relied on their sponsoring relative for essential needs like food, shelter, and clothing for at least 3 years before applying. They must also be of Australian pension age and without a partner. Before visa approval, an assurance of support payment is mandatory when requested.
Furthermore, the applicant should not have applied for or hold a subclass 870 visa. These are primary criteria; however, there are additional health and character standards pertinent to this visa category.
